Our neighbor's child and friends play basketball upon our street. The basketball hoop is portable, placed directly on the edge of the street -- just by chance directly across from our driveway. Not only does the ball end up on our property, we also have to wait for these kids to get out of the way should we decide to drive out of our driveway. My neighbors happen to live in a multi-unit apartment building. Every single day, especially in summer, they turn their children -- about eight of them in all -- out into the concrete courtyard that separates my cottage and their back doors. The problem is the noise. We're not talking about the sweet sound of children skipping and playing here. For five to seven hours a day, I am subject to blood curdling screams, yelling, plastic toys being smashed on the concrete, balls being bounced and kicked against the wooden fence with resounding repercussions. It's the Lord of the Flies. What do I do? I have complained to the landlord in writing. I have spoken to the parents. They ignore both me and the landlord. Right now, the only way to control the noise is to open my back door and yell at the kids. But that only quiets them temporarily. I've even called the cops, but they don't take my complaints seriously. Since I work at home as a writer, it's even more disturbing. How can I get some peace?

My ex-neighbor's son planted a pine tree some 50 years ago, 5 feet from the property line, with the majority of the tree hanging over my 10 foot driveway. The sap has ruined two paint jobs, and I'm not surprised in spring anymore when I find the perfect little pine needle nests with the eggs nestled inside under the hood of my cars! I asked for the tree to be removed, the neighbor said no. I cut off the branches at the property line. The problem still exists. The neighbor moved to a retirement home and now the property is for sale. Do I have the right to include tree removal as a condition of buying the house because of damages it's doing to not only my cars, but to anyone who parks anywhere near my house?

I am currently serving on a federal grand jury. My problem is with my employer's method of paying my wages and benefits while I'm away. Our employee handbook states that vacation hours accrue only on regular hours worked, so every paycheck I lose vacation hours because of being away on jury duty. I receive only my wages, less jury duty pay. I am thinking of hiring a lawyer to sue. Do you think I have a case?

My husband has been terminated from his job. To fill you in: He had an affair in the office. The affair ended. Both people were told to have no contact with one another. The Other Woman continued to have other secretaries deliver letters to my husband. He refused them. She tried to call him. He said don't ever call me again and hung up. She gossiped around the office about the affair. Finally, my husband went to the manager and explained what she was continuing to do, demanding that she be fired.

The unexpected happened. They were both terminated. The reason: They cannot co-exist in the same office and it would not be fair to fire one and not the other. My husband and I believe he's been wrongfully terminated. What do you think?

I have found there is rampant discrimination in workplaces these days, especially against people who have multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS). The Americans With Disabilities Act was intended to cease this discrimination. I have filed several ADA complaints with the Department of Justice, but it has not pursued them. I worked parttime as a telemarketer for a national photography company. My supervisor came to work with a virus and I caught it. Combined with other health problems, this has been a particularly traumatic for me, despite my supervisor's apologies and assurance that this illness will only last a short while.

At this job, workers are only told to clean their phones "before and after" we leave our shift with alcohol swabs the company supplies. I was the only worker I viewed who additionally and routinely cleaned my phone before directly handing it over to my supervisor who closed my sales-and she neglected to clean my phone after using it.

I want to file a state OSHA complaint about the company's unsafe working conditions. Can I also make this company reimburse me for time missed from my day job as a self-employed writer/graphics specialist, future medical expense as a result of this virus and time missed from this telemarketing job?

I am a faculty representative for my education association. We have received a number of complaints about supervisors who harass instructional personnel, but not in a sexual manner. The complaints are mostly about supervisors who target individuals for unfair treatment--for example, consistently assigning them to do outside duty that is normally rotated. I am female. A male co-worker and I sent e-mail messages to one other that we thought were humorous, but were never of a sexual nature. This co-worker was suddenly fired and our supervisor told him one reason was that he harassed me. I have never in any way been offended by my co-worker's communication.

After my co-worker left the building with lunchbox in hand, I was upset and sent both of our bosses an e-mail giving them a piece of my mind. I then said that I was upset and sick to my stomach and proceeded to leave for the day.

My main concern is that they fired this guy for some reasons that are untrue and have put me in a bad situation. What should I do?

I worked for a large cellular company as an outside corporate salesperson. I was only on the job for one month and I was sexually harassed by one of my co-workers. When I went to my manager and told him about what had happened, he then started treating me badly and not showing support to me regarding my job.

I recently quit because of the way I was treated. I have been in contact with the EEOC about filing a complaint, but it won't be taking a statement from me for several weeks.

My ex-employer is now calling me and telling me they want to get a statement from me in person so they can investigate this further and that they would really like me to come back because I was "such a great salesperson."

A while back, I mailed an eight page letter of resignation that has all of the information on why I left and letters to my manager that I sent him trying to get him to see that he wasn't supporting me like a manager should.

So should I meet with them and give more statements? I don't want to go back to a hostile situation working for this company, but on the other hand, I really worked hard while I was there and I need the money. I feel like I have been dealt a bad hand and I don't know how to play it out.

I am currently employed part-time at a movie rental store. The owner, when he hired me, told me that he didn't have to pay the minimum wage because he only has six workers.
